Yentis and Associates, Inc. is an Investment Advisory Firm registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The firm was established in June 1999 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The President of Yentis and Associates, Inc., Jay Yentis, is a Chartered Financial Analyst. He has over 27 years of experience in financial and economic forecasting. Mr. Yentis holds an undergraduate degree in Economics from Hofstra University and graduate degrees in both Finance and Economics from Michigan State University.

What Distinguishes Us

We are conservative investors. We believe we are able to synthesize economic data and prepare for future trends in the marketplace. Initially, we were quite distinct from the marketplace concerning Defined Contribution Models as we took a very conservative approach to both the initial allocations and rolldown procedures that we were employing. This approach met with considerable opposition from some consultants who believed that we were separating ourselves from many major brokerages. The responsibility of protecting retirement plans and our clients’ money will always make safety a paramount concern to Yentis and Associates, Inc. When the markets collapsed in 2008, investors in our Defined Contribution Models were generally not hurt as badly as those invested with more aggressive firms. We may not look as good on the upside, but when economic and market downturns occur, we believe our approach is validated.

We monitor continually. Another significant difference between Yentis and Associates, Inc. and many of the other firms is that we evaluate each of our models separately. Each client gets an individual evaluation based on his/her specific holdings. By doing individual analysis we can position the overall allocation closer to what the client is actually offering its participants. We review client portfolios quarterly, but evaluate them daily.

Jay Yentis, President and Chief Economist

With over 27 years of investment experience, Jay Yentis brings a seasoned knowledge to his firm. In addition, his formal education melds economic philosophies of both the east coast and Midwest, and includes a Bachelors degree in Economics from Hofstra University and a Masters in Economics and MBA in Finance from Michigan State University. He has been a Chartered Financial Analyst since 1994.

From 1985 to his founding of Yentis & Associates in June of 1999, Jay Yentis worked for various affiliates of Lincoln National Corporation. As Director of the Asset Allocation Department for Lincoln Investment Management, Mr. Yentis was responsible for managing three balanced funds with assets of close to $300 million and the Lincoln National Managed Fund, Inc., a fund with assets exceeding $800 million. He also made the asset allocation decisions for Lincoln's Defined Benefits Plan.

Mr. Yentis has also enjoyed extensive experience working with Defined Benefit and other pension plans. Since 1987, he has made active asset allocation recommendations for these clients.

Mr. Yentis has been consulting with plan sponsors on the selection and subsequent fund monitoring since 2002. He has also had an extensive history with both risk-based and time-based models for the Defined Contribution market.
